The new couple live and work in Japan and wanted to return to Hong Kong for a simple wedding. Earlier while on a pre-wedding shoot at Tokyo, I managed to dine with the couples.  During the dinner, I found out the many differences between Japanese and HK weddings as they regularly go to Japanese weddings.  For the Japanese, wedding ceremonies are not like HK weddings, they do not have same day video edited show or grand entering of the couples that is like a big event.

All they wanted to do is to gather with families and friends to gave a great celebration.   I feel that without a tightly calculated run down, the new couple can enjoy themselves even better.  With such a simple way of capturing a wedding like this, I can do all the capture on my own without a huge crew to fight for the best angles.  Also, with just me shooting, the more realistic the captures without others getting in the way of the couple, families and friends.

The first time to meet with Sally and Vincent was on their wedding day. Sally visited my blog and saw my wedding day work with Lucosa and Ken in 2011. Glad that Sally loved the pictures and made a call to book me as their wedding day photographer. My pleasure to have their support and trust!

Sally and Vincent wedding was a simple but festive one. The formal wedding ceremony was not held on that day. In the morning, Vincent picked up Sally and they had the tea serving ceremony at Sally’s home. Then we moved to Aberdeen Marina Club where the banquet was held in the afternoon. We had a relaxing outdoor shot session in AMC. A relaxing wedding day can be as memorable and happy as a busy and packed one, I always think. The couple ought not to rush through a long do-it list on their wedding day and made themselves exhausted.

Sally and Vincent will have their wedding ceremony held in Okinawa later and their families will witness their important moment. Although I will not be part of it, I wish they will have a great and joyful trip and a perfect ceremony in Okinawa.

I have a funny thought about the frequently visited Peninsula Hotel, I wonder whether it is a “Chicken and Eggs” scenario.  The more new couples looking at my Peninsula photographs, the more sample images of Peninsula, the more Peninsula big day shoots will be booked. Ha!  Of course it is always a joy to shoot at the Peninsula.  I particularly love its classical architecture and decors and the front door’s Italian architecture outlook.  I never run out of beautiful areas to photograph at the Peninsula, it is simply stunning at every angles.

Without exception, Jasperine and Angus also liked my works of the Peninsula and hired me for their important day.  The job of the day was naturally to produce beautiful images all over the Peninsula.  My knowledge and experiences of shooting at the Peninsula made the job a breeze with ultra smoothness.  However, it was my first time to shoot at the Peninsula’s Chinese Cuisine Restaurant – 嘉麟樓 Spring Moon.  I love this place as it is full of Chinese favour and atmosphere.  It is definitely a great part of Peninsula if others are considering a Chinese wedding ceremonies in the future.

After a peak session of wedding session, I am now having more pre-wedding job after April.

Most clients will have wedding in the fall and get their wedding photos taken before the hot and melting summer. So there are more pre-wedding engagements in April and May. Mandy and Alex picked where we often take photos – Cyberport and the University of Hong Kong. However, same venue doesn’t turn up same photos as photographer can take photos in different angle. I keep on exploring and try taking photos with a different perspective.

Mandy and Alex not only took pre-wedding photos in formal wedding attire but also in casual wear. I usually suggest clients taking some pre-wedding photos in casual wear as it is more comfortable and more like what one always wear. Usually people are more relaxing when they wear what they always do, and that I capture photos of one’s natural life.

I also prepared a “making of” for the pre-wedding photo session, which recorded what happened on the pre-wedding. I also shared Mandy and Alex making of…Don’t miss that!

Last month, I attended the Wedding Magazine Awards Ceremony wedding magazine and won the 2012 Best “Words of Mouth” photographer in the wedding gown category.

I was flattered to have won an award in the wedding industry, but most important of all, professional and passionate to photography. As our job is to capture the decisive moments of the wedding couples either on their pre-wedding or big day images.

For me, wedding photography is not just an art or winning awards, but rather to provide “JOY” to the future wedded couples. Once again, thank you for everyone’s support and I shall continue to do my very best in the future to serve more happy couples.
