Phoebe and Ron had finished their ceremony before, so the wedding was a simple one. There was no rush during that day and we had more time for photo shooting. Phoebe is a flight attendant and travels to different countries to explose with different culture. She loved the western-style wedding day arrangement – which is simple. When we met and talked about her expectation and views on wedding, we shared the same thinking. That’s what I do! Different personality of the couple lead to very different wedding, and what I do is to make their photos have a touch of their personality. It’s personalised after all, right?

Most of my work (properly over 90% of them) are wedding-related. Recently, I was glad that I took photo at a piano concert – it’s Lang Lang’s piano concert. It’s a new experience to me as the lighting at stage is very different from that of a wedding. First, though I am the designated photographer, I can’t use flashlight for photo! As flashlight would affect the performer and the audience, I made use of the lighting of the theater to reflect the atmosphere of the performance. The output is very nice. This experience inspired me for the upcoming wedding shooting. Lang Lang is a great pianist and the concert is enjoyable – I had a great evening on shooting with a beautifully played music.

Many couples now decide to get rid of Hong Kong and take their pre-wedding photos in overseas. From Taiwan, to Japan, China and even to Europe. Vietnam seems not on their “menu”. A few years ago, I had a trip in Vietnam. As Vietnam was a French Colony in 19th century. The French had a huge influence in Vietnam in many aspects: food, architecture, culture and national aspiration. It’s a great option for pre-wedding photos too! Of course some said why not go to French for French-style? Others may take time and budget into account.

There are many French-style buildings in Vietnam.
